William O. Roos

William (Bill) O. Roos passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on March 30, 2025 at the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ.

Born on March 11, 1940 in Glen Ridge, NJ, Bill was a lifelong resident of Verona, a town that he loved and called home. He was a powder-chasing skier, a golf enthusiast, and a shoreline angler extraordinaire! A devoted, considerate, and ever-supportive soul, he crafted a vibrant life, always dedicated to his career, community, and the cherished folks around him.

A distinguished graduate of Verona High School's Class of 1958, Bill ventured forth to Upsala College, where he attained a Bachelor's Degree in Business. He embarked on a remarkable 30-year journey as a Purchasing Agent at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. His unwavering dedication to his profession was paralleled only by his noble service to the nation in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile," and Bill's life indeed embodied this ethos. His thoughtful and supportive nature extended not just to his professional life but also to his personal relationships, touching the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by his parents Olaf and Alice Roos; his sister, Carolyn Sawler; his niece, Sandra Landis and nephew, Richard Sawler.

Bill is survived by his sister, Jeanne Roos; his niece, Barbara Randel (William); and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, Inc. located at 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, New Jersey, 07044 on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm with a Service at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations at the funeral home to assist with final medical and funeral expenses.
