William C. McLaughlin, a lifelong resident of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away on October 6, 2022 at the age of 89.

Bill was born on May 9, 1933, one of eight children of Matthew Patrick McLaughlin and Agnes Barbara Keimel McLaughlin. Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. In 1957 he married Patricia Waldron and together they had two children. Bill worked as a Firefighter for the Township of West Orange for 28 years before retiring in 1986. He also spent many years employed as a porter for several local funeral homes. He was an avid harness horse racing fan and was always grateful to have achieved his lifelong dream of owning racehorses.

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Patricia and is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, William E. McLaughlin; daughter, Lynda McLaughlin Plessner; son-in-law, Richard Plessner; and grandchildren, Ryan Plessner and Morgan Plessner.

Services through Prout Funeral Home are private with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, N.J.
