Steven M. Sander

Steven M. Sander, 81, died on August 17, 2026 at Hackensack University Medical Center - Mountainside in Glen Ridge, NJ.

Born and raised in New York City, Steven earned a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree before starting a professional career as a Special Education teacher for the New York City Board of Education.

Steven was always proud of his time as a volunteer in the Peace Corps, when he spent two years in Liberia.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marlene (Glaser) Sander; his parents, Stanley and Sylvia Sander and his sister, Diane Singer.

Steven is survived by his son, Jeffrey S. Sander.

A graveside service will be held in the Mount Moriah Cemetery, 685 Fairview Avenue, Fairview, NJ 07022 on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 10:30 am.

Memorial Donations in his name to the Rabbi Discretionary Fund / Bnai Keshet, 99 South Fullerton Avenue, Montclair NJ 07042 would be greatly appreciated.
