Rosalba Carrier

–

Verona, New Jersey

Mrs. Rosalba F. Carrier died on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, in Livingston, NJ. She was 87 years old.

Visiting will be in the Dancy Funeral Home, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell on Friday, January 16 from 5 to 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 28 Lakeside Avenue, Verona on Saturday, January 17 at 10 am.

Rosalba was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia, one of eight children in her family.

As a young woman, Rosalba—known to many as “Rose”—came to the United States at the age of 19 and settled in New York City. In the early 1960s, Rose met a young Canadian named Guy, and their romance led to their wedding in Bogotá, Colombia, on June 19, 1965. They made their home in Queens, New York, where they welcomed their daughter, Denise Rose, in 1969. After enjoying several years in the city, they were ready to leave their one-bedroom apartment and find a home in the suburbs. In 1978, Howell, New Jersey became their home for more than 40 years.

Rose was a bit of a rebel, bravely leaving Colombia on her own to explore the world. She was always dressed to the nines from head to toe, making sure she was perfectly put together for any occasion—whether it was attending a wedding or a quick trip to ShopRite. She was incredibly devoted to her husband and daughter, ensuring they had everything they needed and running the household like a Fortune 100 CEO.

Her passions included traveling, as she and Guy saw the world together, and dancing—she was always the first one on the dance floor. Her greatest joy of all was her granddaughters, Emma and Marley.

While Alzheimer’s impacted her final years, there were moments when that rebellious spark would still shine through her eyes, reminding us of the remarkable woman she was.

She was a devoted wife, mother, nana, sister, tia ("aunt"), and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Guy M. Carrier.

She is survived by her daughter Denise McDevitt and her husband, Terence and grandchildren, Emma and Marley McDevitt. Rose is also survived by three siblings Amanda Forero, Myriam Forero and Jorge Forero and wife Cecilia, and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who she cared for deeply.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name to the Alzheimer's New Jersey, 425 Eagle Rock Avenue, Suite 203, Roseland, NJ 07068 (https://www.alznj.org/) would be appreciated.
