Bobbie Profitko

Roberta J. (Née Fix) Profitko, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in the Concord Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lakewood, NJ.

Family and friends are welcome to gather for visiting on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 4pm to 7pm at Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ.

Services will be held at the Restland Memorial Park Mausoleum, East Hanover, NJ on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:30am.

Known to all as “Bobbie”, she was born in Montclair, grew up in West Orange, and lived in Verona and Ringwood prior to moving to Barnegat Township 20 years ago.

Bobbie was the owner of Cooper Associates, a promotional products firm in Verona NJ and it was through this industry that she met her husband, John Profitko.

Bobbie and John were among the first residents of Horizons at Barnegat, where she organized the “Dining Out” program and hosted many fun-filled Mardi Gras parties.

Bobbie was a wonderful baker and cook and loved to feed her family. As Cathi always says “no one eats better than us”. The “bakery” would open right after Thanksgiving and she would start Christmas cookie baking—at least 12 different kinds including biscotti, decorated sugar cookies, and babka—with Christmas carols blasting in the background. She collected recipes from her extended family and created her own cookbook titled "In Memories Kitchen". It is dedicated to her family's cooks and—of course—it's largest chapter is on cookies.

John introduced Bobbie to the beach and the Outer Banks became their home away from home for 25 years. They were always happy to share the house with family and friends for vacations and holidays.

Bobbie loved to garden. She cultivated flowers, herbs, and orchids. She even had John create a beautiful tiered garden at their home in Ringwood to accommodate the beautiful plants from their wedding to always remind them of their special day.

She is survived by her husband, John R. Profitko; her children, Karen Marden (Neil Lipper) and Ken Greenwood, and step-daughter Cathi Profitko (Adam Layne); her grandchildren, Lauren Servidio (Joseph Servidio), Wendy Greenwood, Mia Greenwood, Kyle Greenwood, and great grandson, Connor Servidio.

In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.
