Richard W. Watkins

Richard W. Watkins, a man known for his generous spirit, dedicated work ethic, and humble nature, passed away on July 8, 2026. Born in East Orange, NJ on March 29, 1946, to the late Thomas and Frances Watkins, Richard went by many names - Rich, Dick, Richard Willem Watkins, and Richard Watkins. Despite the different names, everyone knew Richard as a loving individual who put his family above all else.

Richard spent much of his life in New Jersey, residing in Verona before settling down in Little Falls. As a laborer in the government sector, he was a hardworking individual who understood the importance of dedication. Despite his busy schedule, Richard always found time for his hobbies. He was an avid fisherman and had a special fondness for his Packard. However, it was his family that mattered most to him, providing him with a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

Richard is survived by his brother, Robert Watkins, his sister-in-law, Jill Watkins, his niece, Susan McNamara, and his great-nephew, Jack McNamara.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Watkins, his mother, Frances Watkins, his brother, Herbert Watkins, and his wife, Elizabeth Watkins.

The family invites you to remember Richard during a visitation at Prout Funeral Home, Inc., 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona, NJ on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 12:00pm to 1 pm. Following this, Richard will be laid to rest in Pine Brook Cemetery, Route 46 West @ Hook Mountain Road, Pine Brook, New Jersey, at 1:30pm.
