Orazio Tanelli, PhD Obituary (1936 - 2019)

Dr. Orazio Tanelli, PhD, 83, died on October 3, 2019 at his home in Verona, NJ. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, (www.proutfuneralhome.com) 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Saturday, October 5 from 8 am to 9:45 am, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Ave., Verona at 10 am. Born in Macchia Valforte Campobasso, Italy, Dr. Tanelli emigrated to the United States in 1964 and lived in Newark and Bloomfield before moving to Verona in 1972. He earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in language studies from Seton Hall University and a Doctorate degree in language studies from Rutgers University. Dr. Tanelli taught Language at Montclair High School, Montclair State University and Ramapo College. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicola and Maria (nee DiIorio) Tanelli, brother, Mario Tanelli and his son, Nicola Tanelli. Dr. Tanelli is survived by his loving wife, Franca Tanelli (nee DiIorio), beloved son, Pasquale Tanelli and his wife, MaryAnn, daughter-in-law, Beth Tanelli and cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Dominic, Salvatore, Matthew and Isabella. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
