Sr. Mary Evelyn Mulcahy, O.P. died on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at St. Catherine Health Care Center in Caldwell. She was 88.
A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel,
7 Ryerson Avenue (Mt. St. Dominic) Caldwell on Wednesday,
August 3 at 11AM.
Visiting at St. Catherine Convent, Caldwell on Tuesday from 2 to 4PM
and 6 to 7:30PM.
Born in West Lyden (Prussian Settlement) New York, Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell September 8, 1941 and professed vows on September 1, 1943. She is a graduate of Caldwell College.
Sister Mary Evelyn taught Elementary grades at St. Ann School, St. Boniface School, St. Raphael School and Mt. St. Dominic Grammar School, where she also served as Principal.
Sister was involved with the IRFBTS program, served as the Pastoral Assistant and Superior of the Convent at Holy Rosary Parish in Bridgeport, CT, Pastoral Associate and Director of St. Maximillian Kolbe House of Studies at St. Peter's Parish in Bridgeport and Program Coordinator for Pastoral Care for St. Catherine Parish in Spring Lake, NJ.
Sr. Mary Evelyn is the sister of the late Peggy Mulcahy and is survived by her cousins Dorothy and Philip Guidone, Doris and Michelle Naylor, Kristine, Kim, Andrew and Jennifer Guidone and Philip, Suzanne and Douglas Long.
