Sr. Patricia M. Costello, OP,73 , died on Saturday, April 9, 2016 in St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center in Caldwell, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel, 7 Ryerson Avenue, (Mt. St. Dominic) Caldwell on Wednesday, April 13 at 10:30 am. Visiting in St. Catherine of Siena Convent on Tuesday from 2 to 7 pm. The Office for the Dead will be on Tuesday at 4:30pm. Born in Jersey City, Sister entered the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell on September 8, 1960 and professed vows on June 23, 1962. Sr. Patricia graduated from St. Dominic Academy in Jersey City and has a BA in History & Education from Caldwell College and her Masters in Counseling & Education from Seton Hall University. Sister spent her career in education teaching elementary grades at St. Michael School in Union, Our Lady of Peace School in New Providence and Holy Spirit School in Asbury Park. Sister served as a Guidance Counselor at St. Mary's High School in Rutherford, Principal at Lacordaire Academy in Upper Montclair, Director of Guidance, Assistant Principal and Principal at the Academy of St. Elizabeth in Convent Station and was presently Director of Sponsorship for the Sisters of St. Dominic in Caldwell. Sister was also the Superior of the convents at Holy Spirit, St. Mary's and Lacordaire. Sr. Patricia is survived by her Dominican Sisters and her cousins Carol Willner and the Murtha family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sisters of St. Dominic, One Ryerson Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006 would be appreciated.
