Sr. M. Gilbert Frey, O.P., 89, died on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at St. Catherine of Siena Healthcare Center in Caldwell. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Catherine of Siena Convent Chapel, 7 Ryerson Avenue (Mt. St. Dominic) Caldwell on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:30AM. Visiting at St. Catherine Convent, Caldwell on Monday from 2 to 7 PM. Born in Norwalk, OH, Sister Gilbert joined the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell on February 2, 1951 and professed vows on September 13, 1952. Sister has a BA in Education from Caldwell College and was an Elementary School Teacher at the following schools: St. Philomena School, Livingston, Assumption BVM School in Lawrence, MA, St. Joseph School in Union City, NJ and St. Theresa School in Kenilworth, NJ. Sr. Gilbert spent most of her ministry at St. Michael's Parish in Union, NJ, serving from 1958 to 1969 and again from 1977 to 2005, when she retired to St. Catherine's Convent in Caldwell. Sister also served as both Bursar and Superior at St. Theresa Convent and St. Michael's Convent Sister is survived by her sisters, Elizabeth Schaffer and Veronica Kluding. She was predeceased by her parents, Gilbert and Helen and her siblings, Kathleen, Martha, Louis, Charles and James.
