Mary R. Catena

Mrs. Mary R. Catena passed on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025. She was 94 years young!

Born in Newark, NJ, residing in the Iron Bound District from 1930 to 2015 when she moved to Verona, NJ. Many knew Mary as her loving nickname, Mimi.

Mary is survived by her son Anthony, daughter Joanne, her two sisters, Rose and Jenny, sister-in law Antoinette Bonella and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was predeceased by her loving husband Peter, her mother Anna and her father Antonio Acuna.

Her home will always be known as having an open-door policy for all family and friends to share a meal and celebrate all milestones in life. We all enjoyed the conversations, laughter, and Mimi's ability to cook endless great meals. Millions of memories will be cherished in our hearts forever.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 28 Lakeside Avenue, Verona at 10 AM on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
