Kochannamma “Kaye” Prasad Obituary (1930 - 2021)

Mrs. Kochannamma "Kaye" Prasad, 90, died peacefully on May 16, 2021 at her home in West Orange, NJ. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home (370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona) on Thursday, May 20 from 11 am to 1 pm. A service will be held at 1 pm and burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, NJ. Face masks and social distancing will be required. Born in Kerala, India, Mrs. Prasad moved to the United States in 1970 and lived in West Orange since 1974. She was a registered nurse and worked for the Matheny School and then for East Orange General Hospital. Mrs. Prasad was a member of the former Pleasantdale Presbyterian Church and currently with the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell. She was predeceased by her parents, Mathew Purackal and Annamma Kandathil Purackal and siblings, Mathew, Joseph, Eapen, Amini and Jacob. Mrs. Prasad is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Dr. Sheo Shanker Prasad; her loving children, Dr. Joseph Philip Prasad (Dr. Elizabeth Mammen-Prasad), Anita Mathews (Roy) and Richard Thomas Prasad; and her cherished grandchildren Sarah Marie Mathews (Scott Wise), Joshua Prasad, Roy Mathews, Jr. and Alexander Prasad (Frances Prasad). She is also survived by her brothers, Philip Mathew and Thomas Matthews and two great-grandchildren, Mia Prasad and Adelaide Mathews-Wise.
