Jose C. "Cheo" Ocasio

Mr. Jose C. "Cheo" Ocasio died peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home in West Caldwell surrounded by his loving family. He was 77.

Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday, December 12 from 1:15 to 3 pm. Natural Burial Services will take place in the St. Francis Section of Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah on Monday, December 13 at 1 pm.

Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he came to the Mainland in 1972 and lived in Plainfield and Cedar Grove prior to moving to West Caldwell in 2014.

He worked as an Upholsterer for Center Core Group - NJ in Plainfield for 20 years, retiring in 1998. He loved to read and play dominos with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lydia E. Molina; his children, Maria Ocasio-Gonzalez (Roy Gonzalez), Jose Ocasio, Jr. and Nancy Ocasio; his grandchildren, Andre McCrea, Davin Jose McCrea and Aleena Gonzalez; and his sisters, Maria Rosa and Celia Ocasio.

He was predeceased by his parents, Mauricio & Maria Ocasio and his siblings, German Ocasio, Cecilia Ocasio, Felipe Ocasio, Bautista Ocasio, Confesora Ocasio and Rosa Ocasio.
