John Paul Otto

November 9, 1977 - March 7, 2021

John Paul Otto passed away March 7, 2021 at home in Lantana, Florida.

Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of Maureen Otto. He was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, class of 1996. John moved to Florida in 2001 and resided in Lantana at the time of his death. He worked as a Behavioral Health Technician at Lighthouse Recovery Institute. He studied at Palm Beach State College and aspired to become a counselor to provide support to people in recovery.

John leaves his loving mother, Maureen, his sister Kristen Otto, his sister Meg Otto Penncavage and her husband Mike along with his cherished niece Amanda. His Aunt and Uncle, Jo and Ray Edmonson, his closest cousins Raymond Edmonson and his wife Kerry, Colleen Mahoney, Keith Edmonson, and Maureen Donoghue and her husband Rich along with all of their children whom he dearly loved.

John's friends meant the world to him. He had more friends than his family could count. They provided an amazing support system and he loved them like family. The memories they made were everything.
John made a dent in the pain of the world by helping one person at a time. No one was too far gone for John, he would always try to help. He lived a life of meaning on his own terms and in truth. He was one of the kindest and funniest people you could meet. He lit up every room he was in with laughter. He loved the NY Yankees and the NY Giants and complained vociferously about both. He loved great movies and TV, music, and his cats Scrappy and Mouf were irreplaceable. John was one of a kind.

A walk through visitation will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona, NJ on Friday, March 12th from 6:30-8:00 pm.

A funeral service will be broadcast on ZOOM, on Saturday, March 13 at noon. The link can be found at https://proutfuneralhome.com/obituary.

A memorial service is also planned for Monday, March 15th at Sandaway Park in Delray Beach, FL at 7 pm.
