Jean M. Lowe

Jean M. Lowe Mrs. Jean Marie (nee Reilly) Hicks Lowe, 96, died on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, N.J. Private services were held under the direction of the Prout Funeral Home. Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., to Edward and Frances Reilly, Jean grew up in Montclair, N.J., and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1938. Jean was employed by the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark and Wayne, N.J., as a human resources manager for her entire 42- year working career. Jean met her first husband, the late Frank L. Hicks, while they both worked for Prudential. They lived in Clifton and Cedar Grove, N.J., and were avid bridge players. Jean married her second husband, the late Wilbur L. Lowe, on July 11, 1980, having been introduced by mutual friends at the Belmar Fishing Club. They lived in Skillman and Avon-by-the-Sea, N.J., and Naples, Fla. They enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shells, and ocean fishing from their boat, the Wil-O-Jean. Jean is survived by her sister, Miriam F. Bresin of Livingston, N.J.; her nephew, Robert A. Bresin and his wife, Kathleen of Cedar Grove and Avon-by-the-Sea; her stepson, Glenn G. Lowe and his wife, Jane of Holland, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Sally Lowe; several step- granddaughters and several step great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, Jean was predeceased by a stepson, Jeffrey R. Lowe, and nephews, Richard C. Bresin and Bruce D. Bresin. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Serenity Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
