West Orange, New Jersey
Jane A. Lambert, a loving mother, sister and dedicated grandmother peacefully passed away on January 4, 2025, in West Orange, NJ.
Born on June 16, 1943, in Ellensburg, Washington, Jane demonstrated resilience, unyielding spirit, and a zest for life that she carried with her throughout her 81 years. She resided in West Orange, New Jersey for the last five years of her life after living in Salem, Oregon for many years.
Jane was a dedicated field representative for the Oregon Lottery for over 20 illustrious years, retiring in 2006. Her commitment towards her work was inspiring and her professional accomplishments are a testament to her tenacity and perseverance. She loved her work, leading by example and inspiring everyone who had the pleasure of crossing paths with her. Helen Keller once said, “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired, and success achieved.” Jane embodied this spirit, her resilience being her most commendable trait, one that shaped her unique journey and left an indelible mark on those around her.
After retiring from the Oregon Lottery, Jane spent much of her time engaging in activities that brought her happiness. Jane took pride in her beautiful garden and could be found during the warm months outside taking meticulously care of her flowers. Jane selflessly gave to others and took great joy in her relationships with her friends and family. She was affectionately known as the Neighborhood Grandma to all the young kids. Jane filled her days once retired with volunteering at the local elementary school and tutoring school age children which she did with fierce commitment and joy.
Jane is survived by her loving daughter, Katrina Thervil and son-in-law, Henry Thervil; son, Kendell Lambert and daughter-in-law, Sarah Lambert; brother, Roy Pinney; and her cherished granddaughters, Sophie and Ella Thervil whom she loved to the moon and back.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marguerite (Andera) Pinney and her brothers, Ralph Pinney and John Pinney.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable woman, we also celebrate her life, her accomplishments, and the precious moments she shared with the people who were lucky enough to know her. There will be a celebration of Jane's life held at the chapel at The Cliffs, 707 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange, NJ on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 11:00am. Jane's memorial will be available via live stream for her friends and family located on the West coast. Please email: J.Lambertmemorial@gmail.com to receive the viewing link.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in her memory to the local Alzheimer's chapter: Alzheimer's New Jersey, ATTN: Development Dept., 425 Eagle Rock Ave. Suite 203, Roseland, NJ 07068.
