In Loving Memory of Floretta Gayle
January 20, 1943 - September 25, 2026

On September 25, 2026, our beloved matriach, Floretta Gayle, peacefully passed away at the age of 83. While our hearts are filled with sorrow, we are grateful to God for the gift of her life and for the many years, memories and moments she shared with each of us.

Born on January 20, 1943 in Duncan, Trelawny, Jamaica, Floretta lived a life defined by family, strength, kindness, faith, love and selflessness. She later made her home in South Orange, New Jersey, where she built a beautiful life surrounded by the people she loved.

Floretta was known for her love of church, cooking (especially her famous pot roast and corn porridge), contagious laughter, witty humor and generosity toward family and strangers alike. Her willingness to help others no matter the circumstances, was admired and appreciated by all whose lives she touched. She had a special gift for giving and caring for others. Those who knew her will always remember
the countless barrels she sent back home filled with love and provisions to care for and support her family in Jamaica. Her generosity extended far beyond what she gave - it was a reflection of the love she carried in her heart.

Above all, family was at the heart of Floretta's life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who cherished her four children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Her love could be felt through her cooking, daily phone calls, prayer, advice, generosity and the warmth of a home where others always had a place.

Floretta's presence in our lives was a blessing. Although we will deeply miss her, her love and legacy will continue through the generations. We will carry her lessons, traditions, stories, laughter and the love she gave so freely in our hearts. In accordance with her wishes, Floretta will return home to Jamaica, where she will be laid to rest.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me." - Psalm 23:4

Rest peacefully Floretta.

Your life was a gift, your memory a treasure and your love will remain with us always.
