Emilia Cavuoto

Emilia (nee Ferraro) Cavuoto, passed peacefully on January 12, 2022, at the age of 98 at Crane's Mill, West Caldwell, NJ where she had been living since 2015.

On Saturday, January 15, 2022, a private wake was held in the Prout Funeral Home (www.proutfuneralhome.com), Verona, NJ followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Roseland, NJ. Interment was in the BG William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ with her late husband, Pasquale.

Emilia was born in New York City and had a successful early career in the 1940's as an office manager. Soon after marrying Pasquale "Pat" Cavuoto in 1949, she became an at-home Mom, raising three children, and for many years also provided bookkeeping and administrative support to her husband's accounting and tax business. Emilia and Pat moved to Dumont, NJ in 1955; to Woodcliff Lake, NJ in 1965; and to Manchester, NJ in 1987.

Wherever they lived Emilia provided warm opportunities for family gatherings with lots of her Italian home cooking. She worked hard and played hard and excelled at everything she tackled-from Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie Troop Leader and, in her 60's and into her late 80's- bowling, Bocce, bridge and golf. She loved music and dancing, especially the polka.

Pat predeceased her in 2006. They had been married for 57 years.

Emilia is survived by her fraternal twin sister Margaret Lettera, her sister-in-law Rose Craig, her daughter Toni Maloney and husband Ray, her son Frank Cavuoto and wife Trish, and daughter Fran Mallia. Emilia has five grandchildren Jessica (John), Frank (Michele), Patricia (Evan), Kyle, and Kristen and six great grandchildren--Sydney, Emily, Emmet, Patricia, Frank and Daniel. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Catholic masses in her memory or donations to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) would be appreciated.
