Elizabeth Russell Vreeland

Mrs. Elizabeth R. Vreeland, 95, died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at her home in Verona.

370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Sunday, May 3 from 2 to 5 pm.
Services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11am.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Vreeland grew up in Verona and raised her family there.
She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Upsala College in East Orange and began her teaching career of 17 years as a 9th Grade Math teacher at Roosevelt Junior High in West Orange.
Upon retirement, Mrs. Vreeland became the financial secretary for St. Luke's Episcopal Church from 1976 to 1983.
She was active in Chapter Q of the P.E.O. International, the Eagle Rock-Cranetown Chapter of the D.A.R., the Montclair Colony of the Society of New England Women, a Life Member of the Montclair Operetta Club and a Trustee of the Teachers Annuity Pension Fund of the State of New Jersey from 1973to1976.
Mrs. Vreeland was the devoted wife of the late Richard C. Vreeland and loving mother of Elizabeth Ann Watkins and her husband Richard. She is also survived by her nieces Nancy Phillips and her husband Eric and Lynn Yoder and her husband Conrad. She was predeceased by her parents William and Elsie Russell and sisters
Elsie Moore and Wilda Wiley.
Deep appreciation is given for the kind and caring manner that Anna, her caregiver, bestowed on Mrs. Vreeland for the past 7 years.
