Edward C. DeVivo, Esq

Mr. Edward C. DeVivo died at his home in Verona, NJ on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was 72 years old.

Visiting will be held at the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Ave, Verona, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona at 1:00 PM. Parking can be found in the Montrose Avenue Parking Lot, located at 31 Montrose Avenue, Verona (behind the church). Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Upper Montclair.

Born in Newark, Mr. DeVivo moved to Verona in 1960. He graduated from Essex Catholic High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy from New York University in 1975 and his Law Degree from Notre Dame University in 1978. While working full time he also completed a Master's in Philosophy from New York University in 1982.

Mr. DeVivo was on the Essex Catholic Fencing Team and served as a Fencing Instructor while at Notre Dame. In 1975 he was named NCAA All-America Honors in Fencing and has been inducted into the Essex Catholic High School Hall of Fame and the University of Notre Dame Hall of Fame for Fencing.

He has had a career spanning over 40 years in International Litigation over several disciplines such as The Hague Convention, Sovereign Immunity, Aviation, Sports and Environmental Law.

Mr. DeVivo served as a Lector at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Newark.

He was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Marion DeVivo.

He is survived by his brother, Vincent L. DeVivo and his wife, Brenda . He is also survived by his nieces, Jessica Gahm and Kelly Gahm Domaracki and his former wife, Judith A. DeVivo.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, (stjude.org) would be greatly appreciated.
