Dorothy Post Jordan

Family Matriarch

July 24, 1927 - August 1, 2021

Dorothy grew up in Clifton where she met the love of her life, Adrian Henry Post. They were married 28 years before his passing at much too early an age. Dorothy and Adrian raised their daughters and delighted in all their accomplishments, both big and small. Years after Adrian's passing, Dorothy married George Jordan. He became "Papa" to her seven grandchildren.

Dorothy was a 1985 graduate of Montclair State, going back to school in her late forties. She volunteered at Lambert Castle, enjoyed dancing, and summer days at the Montclair Beach Club.

Her children and grandchildren will remember her as the Maker of Memories. Birthday gifts were not simply toys, clothes or cash, but an experience from which the memory would last a lifetime. Their first train ride, a hot air balloon ride, a flying lesson, and especially the play she wrote and directed starring all of her grandchildren, just to name a few.

She is survived by her three daughters: Elaine Post Gibson and her husband Thomas, Carol Post Clifford and her husband Peter, and Judith Post Roberts. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Adrian Daniel and John Gibson; Erica, Stephen, and Matthew Clifford; and Jessica Roberts Lott and Adrian Roberts. She is also survived by thirteen precious great-grandchildren.

Her grandsons and great-grandson, Nicholas Gibson will be her pall bearers as per Dorothy's request.

Funeral services at Prout Funeral Home in Verona are private. Mass at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, in Caldwell at 10:30 am on Monday, August 16, is open to all of the family's dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, charitable donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Hackensack UMC Foundation, Bone Marrow Transplant Division (BMT).
