Mr. Charles E. Faller, Jr. died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at his home in Verona. He was 76 years old.
Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona will be on Sunday, July 12 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 28 Lakeside Avenue, Verona, NJ on Monday, July 13 at 10:30 am. Parking is behind the church in the lot on Montrose Avenue.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, Charlie grew up in Nutley and moved to Verona 49 years ago. He graduated from St. Mary's School in Nutley, Essex Catholic High School in 1967 and from the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in 1972 with a B.S. in Pharmacy.
Charlie enjoyed a long career as a Pharmacist with the Schering-Plough Corporation in Kenilworth, which merged into Merck & Co, Inc. He retired in 2012 with over thirty years of service.
Charlie had a passion for gardening and looked forward to every spring. He had a knack for reviving the withered plants sent to the sale bin at the nursery. He loved to fish the Atlantic and the local streams, and found peace mid current, always with a cigarette in hand. His knowledge of American history and doo-wop music was profound. Odds are, if you heard the voice of Frankie Lymon drifting from a car in North Jersey over the past 60 years, that was Charlie Faller. He was a regular for breakfast at Jack’s Cafe, where they always took great care of him. Charlie was an unapologetic son of New Jersey, who loved the shore, the Giants, the Devils, Ralph’s pizza, Rutt’s Hutt, and everything in between. He was a deceptively sophisticated man of great intellect, with simple, unpretentious pleasures. He loved his family, his friends, his church, and his community, and he was beloved by them. He will be missed.
Charlie was predeceased by his cherished wife, Rosemary B. Faller, and is survived by his children, Charles "Chaz" Faller, James N. Faller (Jen), Victoria Faller; his brother, Richard Faller (Barbara). Following Rosemary’s passing, Charlie had the great fortune of finding companionship with Linda Knust.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in his name to either Semper Fi & America's Fund, 825 College Blvd. Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057 (www.thefund.org) OR Shriners Hospitals for Children, ATTN: Office of Philanthropy, 2900 N.
