Ceaser G. Pitta, MD Obituary (1947

Dr. Ceaser G. Pitta, 69 was called home on September 1, 2016 at the Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville. A Funeral Mass will be offered in St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell on Wednesday, September 7 at 11 am. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, (www.proutfuneralhome.com) 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-5 pm and 6-9 pm. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Dr. Pitta lived in West Caldwell for the last 38 years and also enjoyed a home in Lake Worth, Florida. Dr. Pitta graduated with a Bachelor's degree from St. Francis College, Brooklyn and earned his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. During this time he also studied at the University of Pradua, Italy. He completed his internship at the University of Southern California and his residency at Newark Eye & Ear. His fellowship training in retinal diseases was at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary in Boston as a Harvard fellow. He also earned a Master's degree in Hospital Administration from the University of Miami. Dr. Pitta was an Ophthalmologist in private practice for over 38 years in Essex, Passaic and Hudson counties. He was on Staff at Clara Maass Medical Center as a full attending and served as the Chairman of the Department of Opthalmology. He worked at Vitreo-Retinal Associates of New Jersey, Vision Eye Physicians, Palisades Eye and Associated Eye Physicians. Dr. Pitta was a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Medical Association. Dr. Pitta is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Bernice (nee Kielce) Pitta, his loving children, Sean Pitta, Shane Pitta, Ceaser Pitta and his wife, Rebecca Pitta, Michael Pitta and Kelsey Pitta and her fiancee, John Sergi, and cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Monte Pitta and sisters, Rosina Johnson (Neil), Mary Nobel (James) and Lillian Willing (Merrit) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Lillian (nee Kling) Pitta and brother, Joseph Pitta.
