Carol Bauman

Carol Bauman (née Lisa), 85, of Verona, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of August 13, 2026.

Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Tuesday, August 18 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Carol was born on November 30, 1940, to Josephine and Joseph Lisa in Hoboken, New Jersey, where she was raised, alongside her two sisters, Marie and Anne. She later married Edward Bauman, with whom she built a loving family in Verona, NJ. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage by understanding each other without ever actually hearing one another, a long and loving partnership built on selective hearing, patience and the kind of humor that can only come from decades of saying “what” back and forth.

She is survived by her husband, Edward; her sons, Joseph and his wife Nina, Walter and his wife Kerry, and Russell; and her grandchildren, Henry, Benjamin, Rebecca, Everett, and William. She is also survived by her loving sister, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends she cherished like family.

Being a mother and then a grandmother was the joy that defined Carol’s life, and she poured that love into everyone fortunate enough to know her. She lived life with a spark all her own, the kind of spirit everyone recognized instantly. To those who knew her, it was understood that rules never quite applied to her, and she carried a signature smile that told you she was plotting something. Carol will be remembered for her quirky, smart, and somewhat inappropriate one-liners that never failed to create infectious laughter. Her happiest place was always Aruba, where she spent countless days making treasured memories with Ed and their family. She moved through the world on her own terms, with humor, determination, and a heart that led every step.
