Wilmington, Delaware

Mrs. Anne H. Trocki died on Friday, February 14, 2025 at the ChristianaCare - Wilmington Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She was 80 years old.

Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Monday, February 24 from 8:40 am to 9:40 am. A Funeral Mass will follow in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Lakeside Avenue, Verona NJ at 10 am. Burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Anne was born and raised in Jersey City, NJ, and was a proud Jersey Girl. She was a loving and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Raised in the parish of St. John the Baptist in Jersey City, she graduated from St. Dominic Academy in 1962, and the New Jersey City University, then Jersey City State College, in 1966. On March 1, 1963, she met the love of her life, Joe Trocki, at Jersey City State’s snack bar. They married on October 5, 1968 at St. John’s.

After Joe’s yearlong deployment in 1969, Anne and Joe lived briefly in West Caldwell, NJ. Over the following decade, they relocated to Fort Lee, NJ, Memphis, TN, North Caldwell, NJ, and El Cajon, CA, before coming back home to West Caldwell in 1980.

In 1993, Anne and Joe downsized to a home in West Orange, NJ. In 2015, long after Joe’s passing, Anne relocated to suburban Wilmington, DE to be closer to her children and granddaughters.

Anne was a gifted and beloved elementary educator who dedicated her career to Catholic education. She taught 2nd and 4th grades at St. Aloysius in Jersey City in the early 1980s. From 1984 to 2006, Anne taught Kindergarten and 1st grade at Our Lady of the Lake in Verona, NJ. When her children were younger, Anne also taught CCD at Notre Dame in North Caldwell, St. Aloysius in Caldwell, and Holy Trinity in El Cajon.

Anne was proud of her Irish roots, but very pointedly described herself as an American of Irish descent. Faith and family were everything to her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph, her parents, Thomas Hurley and Rose Duffy, and her siblings Michael (Lorraine), Mary Hull, and Helen Granger.

She is survived by her children, Megan Mantzavinos (Spiros), Thomas Trocki and her granddaughters, Sophia Mantzavinos and Katherine Mantzavinos.

Anne’s is a tight-knit family. In addition to her immediate family, her cousins Susan McGrath and John Condon McGrath (Karen Donato), her sister-in-law Sharon Trocki-Miller, and her niece and goddaughter, Mary Sara Hull, are all missing her and mourning her passing. Anne’s immediate family would also like to express their thanks to the Christiana Care home health aides, especially Jae, who made it possible for her to remain in the comfort of her home in her final years.

Anne dedicated her life to bringing up the next generation of educated, engaged, and socially responsible American citizens and Catholic Christians.
