Ann Strand

Mrs. Ann Strand died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 with family by her side. Known to friends and family as "Chickie," she was 90 years old.

Family and friends are invited to gather in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona to celebrate her life on Saturday, November 21, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:30 pm followed by a Prayer service at 5:30 pm.

Mrs. Strand was born in Newark, grew up in Montclair and graduated from Montclair High School with the Class of 1953. Upon her marriage to the late George C. Strand, they lived in Clifton for 40 years, Roseland for 10 years and the last 14 in Cedar Grove.

She enjoyed a career of over 20 years as an Administrative Secretary to the Dean of Students at Montclair State University. She was previously an office administrator at Eagle Rock Council, BSA in Montclair, NJ.

Mrs. Strand enjoyed bowling in the Clifton League and served as a Den Leader for the Cub Scouts in Clifton. She was an ardent supporter of public school music education, she was a chaperone with the Clifton Mustang Band to England, and cheered for her grandchildren's performances in West Orange. Mrs. Strand also enjoyed crocheting, flower arranging, and craft fairs.

Mrs. Strand was predeceased by her husband, George C. Strand. and her parents Robert and Anna Thompson (Berry), and her brother and sister-in-law Robert & Jo Thompson.

She is survived by her children, George C. Strand Jr.; Audrey Dean (and her husband, Jack Dean); her grandchildren Julia Bakin (and her husband, David Bakin), Evan Dean (and his fiancée, Katy Williams); her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Louise Thompson.
