Amil Joseph-Jude Maccie Jr., 51, passed away on March 22, 2024 at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge, NJ.
Visiting will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 9:15 – 10:15 am in the Prout Funeral Home,
370 Bloomfield Ave., Verona. A graveside service and interment will follow at 11 am in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
Amil Jr. was born in Livingston, NJ, the oldest of two children of Amil J. Maccie Sr. and Margaret (nee Wilke) Maccie. He grew up in West Orange and later moved to Glen Ridge and then to Bloomfield. He graduated from The Milton School in Maplewood, NJ and then went on to attend Seton Hall University for a semester.
Amil had a vast network of support and love at the Parkview Home in Bloomfield, NJ where he lived for the last decade and a half of his life. He was beloved by his housemates and caregivers. He was a gentle soul who enjoyed the simple outings in life. By far, the most special bond in Amil's life was with his father, Amil Sr., whom he was named after.
The two "Amils" could be found together every Saturday at the Olive Garden enjoying the never ending salad bowl, fettuccine alfredo, and cannolis. When Amil was younger he and his dad would take trips to Ocean Grove, Atlantic City, Yankees games and the Point Pleasant beach to play the boardwalk games. Another favorite past-time was getting their haircuts together.
Amil Jr. was predeceased by his beloved father, Amil Maccie Sr.; his mother, Margaret (nee Wilke) Maccie; his aunts, Elizabeth "Betty" and Bertha Wilke and his uncles, Edward Wilke and Richard Maccie.
He is survived by his loving sister, Elizabeth (Liz) Chbosky and her husband, Stephen; his niece, Maccie Margaret Chbosky; and nephew, Theo Frederick Chbosky; his aunt Geraldine Zoccoli and
many beloved cousins.
While Amil Jr.'s life feels cut entirely too short, the only solace his sister has is knowing that Amil Jr. and Amil Sr. are sharing cannolis together in Heaven.
Condolences, memories and photos may be left on his obituary page at www.proutfuneralhome.com.
