Alice Prag, of Rockaway Township, passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 87. Born June 28, 1938, in Newark, NJ to Samuel and Seranoosh Moorachian, Alice arrived ready to run the show—and never saw a reason to stop
.
A longtime resident of the White Meadow Lake community, where she raised her family, formed many lasting friendships, kept up with everyone’s business, and made countless people feel right at home—whether they planned on staying or not.
.
Alice was devoted, generous, strong-willed, and very funny—especially when she wasn’t trying to be. Her honesty was legendary, her timing impeccable, and her facial expressions alone could deliver an entire speech. If she loved you, you knew it. If she worried about you, you heard about it. She carried the warmth, pride, and unmistakable strength of her Armenian roots—along with the firm belief that you probably hadn’t eaten enough.
She remembered everything: birthdays, anniversaries, children’s names, and things you mentioned once and forgot immediately. Alice never forgot—and she followed up.
She loved shopping, crocheting, and playing cards, especially Canasta, which she played with enthusiasm and a competitive streak. She crocheted countless blankets stitched with love and care and had a true talent for finding the best deal—and a few extras no one knew they needed.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald Prag; her daughter, Sheila “Dawn” Prag; her parents; and her brother, Charles Morchian—who were undoubtedly greeted with hugs, updates, and tears of joy.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Prag of Morris Plains and Sharon Prag of Rockaway; her brother-in-law, Barry Prag, and his wife, Sue-Ellen; her nieces and nephews, Laura, Roy, Brenda, Samantha, and Zachary; and many friends and family who will forever hear her voice offering advice, commentary, and the occasional correction.
Alice’s legacy is love, strength, laughter, and an unmistakable presence. To those who knew her best, she was an angel—fiercely loving, endlessly funny, and always watching out for everyone… whether they asked her to or not.
A Celebration of Alice’s Life will be held on March 28th from 2 pm to 6pm at the White Meadow Lake Clubhouse, 100 White Meadow Road, Rockaway, NJ. 07866. All are welcome!
We invite you to share your memories of Alice on her memorial page and upload any photos you may have, so we can continue celebrating the remarkable woman she was. As we grieve, we also smile—because anyone who knew Alice knows she would expect nothing less.
